I traveled to New York City in 2019 to attend Coffee Fest and explore the beautiful city. Though I learned a lot about coffee and marketing and met some incredible companies, I learned more about myself during this trip than anything else. I explored the city on my own most of the time, visiting coffee shops, falling in love with the subway, meeting new people, and living out a lifelong dream. I depended on an app that told me where each subway entrance was and when the train would leave, and on the kindness of people around me. Relied on power from a Dunkin Donuts after my phone died around midnight and I didn't know how to get home. I saw a broadway show on Broadway, Chicago, and it was everything I had dreamed of. My love for bodies of water drew me to take a ferry ride, and as we passed Lady Liberty I realized it was National Women's Day and I couldn't think of a better way to spend that holiday than gazing up at the incredible beacon of hope that so many dream to see. Growing up in a small town, this big city life was all new to me, and I loved it. Not driving, meeting so many diverse people, and being able to walk everywhere are a few of the things I enjoyed most about this trip.
